@  KT/GT : (10 July 2017 - 10:29 AM)

I'm going to use Motul motor oil for my track use and was looking for suggestions on the oil filter to use. Best I can find is guys are saying to stick with the Ford OEM filter. Any suggestions?

@  KT/GT : (10 July 2017 - 10:28 AM)

I figured out how to disable to default valves in the pipes so the car's exhaust can be in track/sport mode all the time. With the car running and the exhaust in track mode (valves open) just unplug the wire connection at the rear of the car right by the exhaust tips. The valves must be open when you do this as the wires disconnected keeps it in whatever position they are in when you disconnect them. When you start the car it shows you a warning that the exhaust mode is not available but it goes off in 2 to 3 seconds and you do not have to hit "ok" to get rid of it. Much easier than changing it to track/sport mode each time.

@  smokum : (10 July 2017 - 10:08 AM)

Million dollar question ..... I would read the posts under oil consumption and you will get a better idea.

@  pguile131 : (09 July 2017 - 08:11 PM)

What is normal oil consumption

@  JohnCappola : (08 July 2017 - 10:05 AM)

I am new to this forum and would like to learn more about the 2016 Shelby GT-350.

@  KT/GT : (03 July 2017 - 06:08 PM)

I also will be using this car on the track and I have been told to disable the air bags as they have been activating on the rumble strips. Is this as simple as taking out a fuse?

I've got about 9000 miles and a few autocross weekends included, been measuring the tread any chance I get and my MPSS tires are about 1/2 worn.

I went to a car show a few weeks ago and met up with two other GT350's and one car had 12k and still plenty of tread with one auto cross event.

Better than I thought. Obviously its all about how we drive the car ..... but I hope to get better than 12 k out of my tires

Probably depends on how hard u drive it around corner and or how hard u accelerate regarding wear conditions between front and back tires

Rear tires lasted 5000 miles on the Michelin factory and the fronts scrubbed out on the inner edges at 27000 miles . still had a lot left on them otherwise so a camber issue.

Fitted Nitto on the rear and they are still going great. finding tires is a hell of a job, I got mine from discount tires on Ebay and had my local guys fit them , Worked out a lot cheaper.

All i can find in brands that are sized for the 350 are Nitto, Pirrelli , michelin yokohama and bridgestone , actually getting the last two will take some detective work as the factory website lists them but local dealers cant find them :(

I guess I was pretty hard on the rear tires for the first 5000 miles but what the hell its a sports car right .

Do you have a GT350 or GT350R?  In my searches, I've only found that Michelin offers the correct sizes for the GT350.  I'd be happy to have options, but I just haven't seen them for the non-R.

I just replaced my rears at 10,000. Fronts are still ok. This includes 3 track weekends and normally driving in sport mode on the street. I could have gotten another track weekend out of the rears but they were down to the wear bars so too thin for the street. I'm happy with this as I drive it like I stole it.

I have talked to other owners who I met at various car shows and they had 12000 + miles and still had tread left to burn

New to forum Tire question,

2011 GT 350 front tires are starting to wear or they are bouncing wearing every other knob if that makes since?  With car on lift and moving rim and tire back and forth the top of the strut moves would that be the problem?

This is a topic that I'm very concerned about. On my previous ride (2016 Golf R) I literally destroyed a set of Cup 2s in two and a half track days, plus ~1500 miles of city/highway driving. I'm worried that I'll have to get a brand new set of Cup 2s after every track day with my GT350R. This means that it would become basically impossible to spend the a weekend racing at Laguna Seca (~250 miles from where I live) and driving the car home afterwards.

I would think that the R rubber would last a full three day track event at least .... I know spirited driving around town I think one can expect about 3000 miles .....

and be able to get home

I hope so! Otherwise I'm gonna have to start towing it everywhere, even to nearby racetracks

Most likely. As I mentioned earlier my insurance will almost certainly cover on the track (I even had the policy reviewed by a lawyer) but I'll probably get track day insurance as well, just so that I can enjoy the car 100% worry free

FWIW ..... I know of no insurance co that will cover your car if your doing a road or auto cross event.

Smart move on the extra insurance
