@  KT/GT : (10 July 2017 - 10:29 AM)

I'm going to use Motul motor oil for my track use and was looking for suggestions on the oil filter to use. Best I can find is guys are saying to stick with the Ford OEM filter. Any suggestions?

@  KT/GT : (10 July 2017 - 10:28 AM)

I figured out how to disable to default valves in the pipes so the car's exhaust can be in track/sport mode all the time. With the car running and the exhaust in track mode (valves open) just unplug the wire connection at the rear of the car right by the exhaust tips. The valves must be open when you do this as the wires disconnected keeps it in whatever position they are in when you disconnect them. When you start the car it shows you a warning that the exhaust mode is not available but it goes off in 2 to 3 seconds and you do not have to hit "ok" to get rid of it. Much easier than changing it to track/sport mode each time.

Million dollar question ..... I would read the posts under oil consumption and you will get a better idea.

@  pguile131 : (09 July 2017 - 08:11 PM)

What is normal oil consumption

@  JohnCappola : (08 July 2017 - 10:05 AM)

I am new to this forum and would like to learn more about the 2016 Shelby GT-350.

@  KT/GT : (03 July 2017 - 06:08 PM)

I also will be using this car on the track and I have been told to disable the air bags as they have been activating on the rumble strips. Is this as simple as taking out a fuse?

I've been very pleased with my selling dealer.  Of course, that doesn't mean anything about their service capability.  Our cars aren't exactly common and I expect most technicians have never seen a GT350, let alone worked on one.  I'd rather they didn't get their first experiences with my car.

So how does one go about selecting a dealer shop experienced with Ford performance vehicles?

FWIW, I'm in the Puget Sound area.

Tough question and your right, most techs havent seen this car.

You just have to be proactive.

In what little research I have done on this car even a oil change is different. I have never heard using a torque wrench

on a oil filter but these cars require it.

Another quirk on this car are the lug nuts have to be torqued to about 150ft pds which is way over what most shops do.

So its little things like this that are important to know so that you can advise the service manager the quirks of the car.

Let them know how low to the ground it is so they dont mess up your front air dam ..... things like that and even ask them to

have a sr tech work on the car ...... not a grunt

There is lots of information here, on you tube and the net in general on these cars and I just recommend you do your homework in

advance

Good advice; thanks Don.  I think I'll go visit a few dealers and "interview" the service manager.  I can usually tell if someone is genuine or if they're giving me a line.  Asking some open-ended questions could be enlightening.  As you suggest, it's best to do my homework, be proactive and get a good shop lined up before I need them.

Bickford Ford in Snohomish ask for Buff, he takes care of all the high end stuff there. My car had the entire engine replaced by him as per FoMoCo. I guess it was making an awful noise when it came off the transport. I could not tell that a single bolt had ever had a wrench on it. This guy is a pro.

Thanks for the tip!  Since I initially posted, I've "interviewed" a few dealershops by email.  Bickford came out light years ahead of the others.  I had quite a good exchange with their service manager.  It seems they're enthusiasts and know Ford's specialty cars.  It's great to have your confirmation.

Great news and happy you found a home. Not all dealerships are capable of dealing with this car.
