Got my package today. 2017 I'm at 960 miles. Been checking my oil and so far so good.

Got my package over the weekend too

And for what its worth,  I hope you have no oil consumption issues but at least your aware of the potential issue.

In a way its good ford sent this out to everyone. Not everyone is on the net or on a forum like this. There are some

GT350 owners who have a oil consumption problem and dont even know it yet

Tracking may increase the problem Wag but if you dont have it now you probably dont have a issue

Spoke with Ford today on oil consumption of these motors. Unlike my GT500 or the boss or any other car I have owned , we all know this engine was designed differently for high reving.

Combination of the crank and the way the rings on the piston designed.

My oil consumption on my 2017 GT350 is about a quart every 1200-1500 miles. According to Ford this is within specs of the motor. The supplement addresses this problem.

They strongly recommend checking the oil every 1000-1500 miles and that higher reving and or spirited driving can increase oil consumption.

I asked if you drive the car docile if that would decrease oil consumption and he couldnt say.

Just a FYI to everyone.

My 2016 is using about 1 quart per 500 miles, I live in Hawaii and have been getting the run around from the local dealer for 4 months now, they state the "Ford Engineers" said its normal, I don't track the car, just cruz around the Big Island with occasional peddle now and then. Just hit 5000 miles and not getting worse or better. Received my oil filter kit, however no signs of external leakage, just mass carbon build up on tail pipes.

Any ideas on who I can contact at Ford Racing to get this resolved? One quart per 500 miles is not normal.

Thanks,

Jerry

According to Ford thats acceptable but I dont buy it either.

I would call Ford Performance. They themselves said a quart every 500 miles is excessive.

See what they can do for you and keep us posted

Pls do .....  I would start a oil consumption test with your local ford store... this is where every 1000 miles they check the status of the oil so you have documentation

In 2000 miles you would have used 4 quarts of oil and that is totally un accpetable. Ford has replaced several motors do to this issue and yours should be one that is replaced

Bought mine at 918 miles and just turned 1,300. Oil is right at the low oil mark on the dipstick. Haven't even bought any quarts to have around yet.

Not sure if it says in the book or not; does that mean it's 1 quart low?

I have about 9400 miles on the car and went about 1600-1700 miles this time before i had the oil checked and it was a quart and a half down; I also had it changed

So mine is a consistent quart at 1000-1200 miles

Thank you for the information gentlemen. I stopped into the local dealer yesterday and picked up a few quarts of oil to have around. Topped it up with 1400 miles and will recheck more consistently now.

Did stop in at service and was told that a quart per thousand is considered normal consumption.

I dont think Ford has another motor in its line up that can eat oil as much as a quart per 1000 miles. What really bothers me if I may be frank, there are other GT350 owners who have no oil consumption issues at all. Granted driving style will affect it and I do drive mine relatively hard and at alot of high RPM's but thats what the motor was designed for. One would think that either all the motors use oil or none should; in other words it should be the same across the board

my 2 cents worth

Was just on the phone to check on any updates or recalls on my 2017 and they read me a prepared statement saying that under certain types of use a quart per 500 miles is normal consumption. I was born at night, but I wasn't born last night, that's just ridiculous.

Its been documents that alot of the Voodoo motors do eat oil and several customers have had extreme usage and had there motors replaced. Supposedly" the reason thes motor east oil is based on the design of the motor.

Ford published a supplement to the owners manual going over this in detail. I have my own opinion but since I work for a Ford store I need to be somewhat reserved in my comments.

I will reprint the article that they sent to everyone. This written supplement also came with a oil filter and a torque wrench.
