sorry for the downtime today as we moved to a faster server -

@  KT/GT : (10 July 2017 - 10:29 AM)

I'm going to use Motul motor oil for my track use and was looking for suggestions on the oil filter to use. Best I can find is guys are saying to stick with the Ford OEM filter. Any suggestions?

@  KT/GT : (10 July 2017 - 10:28 AM)

I figured out how to disable to default valves in the pipes so the car's exhaust can be in track/sport mode all the time. With the car running and the exhaust in track mode (valves open) just unplug the wire connection at the rear of the car right by the exhaust tips. The valves must be open when you do this as the wires disconnected keeps it in whatever position they are in when you disconnect them. When you start the car it shows you a warning that the exhaust mode is not available but it goes off in 2 to 3 seconds and you do not have to hit "ok" to get rid of it. Much easier than changing it to track/sport mode each time.

@  smokum : (10 July 2017 - 10:08 AM)

Million dollar question ..... I would read the posts under oil consumption and you will get a better idea.

@  pguile131 : (09 July 2017 - 08:11 PM)

What is normal oil consumption

@  JohnCappola : (08 July 2017 - 10:05 AM)

I am new to this forum and would like to learn more about the 2016 Shelby GT-350.

@  KT/GT : (03 July 2017 - 06:08 PM)

I also will be using this car on the track and I have been told to disable the air bags as they have been activating on the rumble strips. Is this as simple as taking out a fuse?

I'm interested as well.  All accounts I've read have been hugely positive.  People come away with a "perma-grin" on their faces.

I'm going May 30-31.  My lady friend is going for the non-driving option.

I went last year. Excellent facility and great program. Spring for the second day if you can and do it in the Boss 302 race cars.

Went in July and took my son, who drove a Mustang GT. We had a great time and learned a lot about the car and road track driving. If I had been solo, would definitely have sprung for the second day. I am considering the Race school in the future.

I went to the May 30-31 session. I thought it would be awesome and it did not disappoint. I'd never driven on a track before so I learned a lot! And driving on the track was such a blast. Honestly, the most fun I've ever had. I want to do it again.--the first sessions I had to remind myself to breathe and my eyes were bigger than dinner plates. Believe it or not, by the end of the day you'll actually get the hang of it and go pretty damn fast...then you lap with the instructor at the wheel and discover you could have gone even faster!...and then you want to do more. Haha. This could be really addictive. I would tell anyone with a GT350: you must do this. It's THAT good.

The more I think about it and look at the photos and videos of my experience the more I think "omg I really did that!" Another thing I think is this--anyone who's never driven on a track before (like me), you've never really driven this car. Sorry to tell ya but it's true. On a track you can do what just isn't possible on public streets. On a track you are full gas or brakes and managing understeer or oversteer all the while hitting braking points, turn-in, apex, and exit just right and using up the width of track (which is wider than a public street). It's madness, scary, and fun. And a total must if you own this car. I look at anyone now with track experience in a different light. I want to do the track attack again!

I totally agree. BUT ...... i had a track ready car .... that I was brought on a trailer to every event ... wasnt street legal ..... full roll cage and I could drive with inpunity.

It was a 1989 Taurus SHO .... bad ass car.

But with this car ...... do most get the insurance because if you loose it and get unlucky and smack it into the wall State Farm wont be covering your claim.

Its all on you and this aint a cheap car

For the track attack you can buy insurance and it's a hundred bucks or so you don't have to worry. If I were doing a track day with my personal car (which I hope to do) I'd definitely check out what my insurance covered or didn't cover and make sure I was good to go in case I had an off track excursion.

Anyone with track experience gets mad props from me.

Just got back from the 13-14 June Track Attack.  I emphatically recommend that anybody with a new GT350 go to this event.  Do both days if at all possible.  The instructors are superb in both their teaching and driving skills.  They have impressive resumes.  You learn a lot in short order.  The instructors will figure out your interests and capabilities and push you to your limits.  Todd was great.  He told me ahead of time he'd be yelling at me - in a good way.  Not angry, he said, but excited.  Yep, he was excited all right!  GAS GAS GAS, no not yet...  NOW!  Brake Brake BRAKE! GET OFF THE BRAKE, TURN-IN, GASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS....     He got me to see ahead, plan my entries, turns and exits.  Like a chess game.  Use the whole track.  Kiss the apex.  Talk to yourself.  My skills ramped up quickly with his coaching.

These folks are total professionals.  They run a tight ship.  All of the instructors have different viewpoints and will give you great help if you want it.  You do need to engage them, though.  Make sure they know you're interested in soaking up their knowledge and they'll happily share and help you push your limits.  Just talk with all of them.  They love what they do.

Great job guys!!!

Don,

I tried to send you a PM with a link to my Track Attack photos.  The system says you cannot accept PMs!

Maybe it's a moderator thing.   If you're interested in the photos, let me know.  Perhaps there's another way.

Chuckle....  Happens to me a lot!  BTW, I added some more pics last night from the afternoon session.  The thumb drive FRPS sent omitted the afternoon session for some reason.  They happily replaced it.  They're a class act.  I've been 100% impressed with them.
