EVERY GT350 owner should take the time to head up to Salt Lake City for the GT350 Track Attack!! It's the most intense track driving experience I've attended. The instructors are terrific and the whole operation is first class in every way. You will have no idea what your car is really capable of until you get it on a race track. I attended the 2 day class in early June. I would also recommend the 2nd day in the Boss 302!! I'm planning on a return trip with my son in the fall. And yes, get the insurance option for the peace of mind. These cars are made for the track! So much fun to drive!!

as fate would have it- my 'Old Faithful' 2002 Lexus GS300 died on the highway. She was 15 years old and almost 200K miles. The repair shop wanted over $5K to fix her and since it was only worth about $2K I decided to get a new daily car (Lexus IS 300 AWD) thus broke for the rest of the year(s). I will just have to watch videos of the track attack and dream about going there someday...

Bummer.  Looks like the old ride gave you good service for a lot of miles.

Hey fellow GT350 owners, I just got back from my Track days at Ford Performance Racing School (June 29-30), and let me tell you, don't miss this opportunity. My first day (June 29) was a meet and greet at the school. It started at 6:15 and ended around 8:00 pm. There was a buffet dinner and information on what to expect the following day. The meeting area also included Raptor and Focus RS owners. We had about 16 of us in the GT 350 Track Attack. The next morning we met back at the school, in our own classroom, A light breakfast was available, and the first classroom session started. It lasted about an hour. We where then fitted for racing suits and helmets. If you have your own helmet, you can use it, but it must be SNELL rated 2010 or newer. One guy had a motorcycle helmet, but was not allowed to use it because it wasn't for car use, from what one of our instuctors said. Then they loaded us up in two Ford vans and took us out on the East track (there is a West track also) to see the track for the first time. The rest of the day was spent on the track and short classroom time. We spent 5- 20 minute track sessions, applying things talked about in class. As some of the other owners have said, these guys are true professionals, and they all seem to race some form of cars. When not on the track we where doing auto cross with cones, high speed braking, and skid car driving, to learn about oversteer and understeer. They also had us drive the cars in different modes to feel what the cars did in different settings. They broke our group down into groups of four, and this was the most cars on the track at one time. Our last track session they allowed us to pass other cars, but only on the front straight a way. My top speed was about 105, in third gear, before you had to slow down for a pretty sharp left hand turn. We all had a chance for a hot lap with one on the instuctors and that was amazing. I thought I was fairly fast, but they showed you what the car could really do. My instructor was probably 15-20 mph faster than me! A graduation finished up the day, with some parting gifts. I had never driven on a track before, and this showed me what the GT350 can do. In my opinion, I would never realize what these cars are capable of on the street. By all means go to this if you have the time, you will be smiling from ear to ear when the day is over...Mike

I'm sold. I see remaining sessions this year are sold out, so I'll be looking into getting into next year's. I know that I need to do this in the first year of ownership to qualify for the complimentary track attack, so definitely some time before July 28, 2018.

I did bring my older '13 Mustang (modified) V6 to a track a couple times and had a blast. (Max speed of 120 before turns required brakes. And then driving home felt like I was in slow motion... ha.) But this car is in a whole different class so I look forward to exploring what new things I can learn and what old things I can do better!

Incidentally, I saw someone ask a general question about track day insurance. I think you can just purchase what you need for the Track Attack days. But for other HPDE days where you bring your own car, definitely invest in track day insurance. My club (Mustang Club of Central Iowa) suggests Lockton Motorsports <https://locktonmotorsports.com/>.I've used them and no complaints. If you have an accident at the track then you are covered and you don't risk your normal insurance. Track day insurance isn't cheap (it scales with the value of your car -- or rather what you put down as the value of your car), but well worth the peace of mind.
