Ok, if any of you are super OCD like me....and you happen to use an air tool to take your wheels off...you'll realize that the "typical" Ford lug nuts are as cheap as they come. My gun destroyed 3 the very first time I took the wheels off.  They are 14X1.5's (bigger than legacy mustang size) and made of the cheap pot metal covered by a "wanna be" chrome cover. When you go looking (like at Darman brand which is on most shelves) and then ask around at tire shops, you'll realize it's not super easy to find proper (big acorn 60 degree bulge seal) real chrome or real black chrome lug nuts to swap out the cheapos. I tried the normal (off the shelf) acorns and even at 150 ft lbs, they loosen over time. Luckily, I ended up finding Gorilla brand lugs at LMR.com ($50) that arrived yesterday and are top quality finish and a direct replacement. I had extra because of wheel locks so I put one thru some torture and it held up perfectly.  Whether you go chrome or black to match the wheels, they're good to go. Hope this saves someone the pain. Again, just IMHO. gt

PS: I do not own nor intend to buy Gorilla stock so there's no angle here...just loyalty.

PSS: If you have your wheels off and take the time to apply some of the good one year wax stuff that's on many shelves (like I did to start this thread), you'll notice that the "brake dust issue" becomes much easier to deal with. I have yet to use anything but plain water to spray off brake dust. Doesn't stick like it did. I'll update on how long it lasts....

I have a nice air tank and a shop quality impact gun. I have never use the impact gun for my lug nuts ..... always hand on and hand off using a torque

wrench on all the nuts in a star pattern

I feel the same but that doesn't mean every shop will and eventually those expensive tires do wear out, LOL. The cheap factory lugs wont stand up to seasonal changes of tires that are required (if you do that cause you like "shelby sledding"). PS...Willing to bet anyone lacking full strength can't "hand" off a 150 ft lb lug nut, it was all I could do to break mine loose the first time until I grabbed the extension bar. I guess it's all in the approach. hahahaha
